Brief Bio:

UPDATE: January 16, 2019, Today, I was honored by the Virginia General Assembly with an appointment to serve as a Circuit Court Judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Virginia. This judicial circuit encompasses the counties of Loudoun, Fauquier and Rappahannock. It is a tremendous honor to receive this appointment by our legislature, and I thank its members for their confidence and support. The appointment is effective July 1st and I will begin preparing my office for the transition. Thank you.

Jim Fisher has been a trial lawyer in Virginia for 30 years. He is the elected Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fauquier County, Virginia, which is a community in Northern Virginia, 35 miles west of Washington D.C.  Jim has worked in the highest volume prosecutors’ offices in Virginia having tried hundreds of jury trials and thousands of bench trials in multiple jurisdictions including state and federal courts.  He has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) in the Eastern District of Virginia.  Additionally, Jim was appointed by the General Assembly of Virginia to the Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission where he served as Chair for two terms.  He has also served on The Virginia Sentencing Commission by appointment of VA’s Speaker of the House of Delegates, and currently is on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys.
